Registration cancellation requests received via My PA Network contact us page on or before March 12th will receive a full refund minus up to a $255. cancellation fee. Credits Offered

This activity has been reviewed by the AAPA Review Panel and is compliant with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 29 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. This events aims to offer informative, current, and relevant information for Advanced Practice Clinicians devised to stimulate thinking through didactic lectures, lively debate, complex case studies and engaging workshops.

Invited faculty will present cutting-edge information on the diagnosis, management and treatment of common conditions, diseases, and problems.

In Honor Of John Charles Allen

John Allen was a physician assistant serving provo, UT for 35 years and the founder of what is now known as Red Rock CME Conference (formerly Mesquite PA Conference).  He was part of the second graduating class of Utah MEDEX Program (now UPAP) in 1973 and served patients at the Family Medical Clinic in Provo, UT until his untimely death in 2011.

John came into the PA profession following studies at Eastern Arizona College and BYU, and serving an LDS mission in South Africa, Zambia, and Rhodesia.  During his eduction John was called to service in the Army and attended Combat Medic School at fort Sam Houston in Texas where he was awarded "Most Outstanding Trainee."  As part of his work in the Army he was sent to Ethiopia where he served in a small field hospital until his discharge. 

John Allen had a long and distinguished PA career and was an active leader in the Utah Academy of Physician Assistants (UAPA) and advocate for the PA profession.  Over the years he precepted PA students and was an outstanding role model for PA students.  John Allen loved his role as a PA for his community, and is remembered as a pioneer of the PA profession in Utah, and he is greatly missed by our PA community.

Thank you for your interest in participating in our conference! We are excited to have you be a part of our 2023 Red Rock CME Conference.

Conference Information:

Held annually, this rapidly growing conference has broken attendance records year over year, drawing around two hundred participants last year including physician assistants, physician assistant students, and nurse practitioners, the majority of whom are practicing in Utah. This is an accredited continuing medical education conference (CME), and those who participate may receive contact hours/credits that go toward their licensure requirements.

Conference Focus:

This event is focused on providing evidence-based updates about advances in a wide variety of healthcare topics. This conference provides networking and outreach opportunities for attendees to interact with each other as well as our supporters and vendors in attendance. You can find our agenda on the tab marked "Agenda."

Exhibit Hall Setup:

The exhibit hall will be located in Ballrooms E&F at the Dixie Center. Exhibit hall hours are Wednesday, March 29th setup 8AM  to 11AM, exhibit hall open 12PM to 5PM, Thursday March 30th exhibit hall open 8AM-5PM and Friday March 31st exhibit hall open 8AM to 1:45PM followed by exhibit hall takedown at 2PM. Attendees can visit the exhibit hall freely throughout the day and will also have designated times as per the agenda to visit.  Meal breaks and non CME talks will be held in the exhibit hall to draw attraction as well. Attendees will receive entries in a drawing for visiting vendors. If you choose to participate as an exhibitor in this conference, it is understood that your company will in no way influence the content of our program.  

Separation of Exhibit Hall and CME Presentations:

In compliance with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support, the CME sessions will not be held in the same location as the exhibit hall. Any non CME talks that are sponsored will not be held in the same location as the CME sessions and will be clearly labeled as such. The CME conference sessions will take place in Ballrooms A, B, C and D while the Exhibit Hall will be in Ballroom E and F. Meals will also take place in the Exhibit Hall.

Non-CME Speakers During Meals

Utah Academy of Physician Assistants will manage the medical symposium and provide all logistics, including A/V, food, room setup, signage, and room rental.  The cost of the meal will be paid for by attendees as part of their registration fees.  As such, the Sponsor will not be responsible for reporting any transfers of value under the U.S. Sunshine Act in association with the meal provided during the medical symposium.

Attendee Information

All conference attendees are asked to consent to providing their name and email to commercial support in compliance with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support upon registering for this event.  You will be provided with this list of attendees that consent to sharing their information at the conference via email.  Exhibitors are also able to collect information from attendees they meet in the exhibit hall.  For non CME sponsored talks that require an additional list of attendees, attendee names can be collected at the time of these sessions, and the conference committee will assist with this. 

Cancellation Policy:

  1. Exhibitor Cancellation Notification: • Any withdrawal of Contract for exhibit space, cancellation of exhibit space or reduction in size of exhibit space must be made in writing to utahapa.info@gmail.com
  2. • If Exhibitor withdraws contract, or reduces/cancels exhibit space, it shall forfeit all rights in and to the use of any contracted exhibit space. In such case, Exhibitor shall have no right to a listing in the online exhibitor directory, exhibitor badges, or exhibitor hotel rooms. Show Management shall have the right to dispose of the released space in such a way as it may consider in its interests (including re-sale of such exhibit space) without any liability on the part of Show Management. 
  3. • Cancellations received prior to February 1, 2023 will be charged 50% of the value of the booth space regardless of payment 
  4. • NO REFUNDS WHATSOVER AFTER February 1, 2023. Cancellations received after February 1, 2023 will be charged 100% of the value of the booth space regardless of payment 

Refunds for cancellations will be determined by the following schedule: 

Prior to February 1, 2023, will be charged 50% of booth space.

After February 1, 2023, will be charged 100% of the value of the booth space.

Pre-Conference Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Workshop

The Red Rock CME Conference, presented by the Utah Academy of Physician Assistants, is excited to announce registration for a unique pre-conference workshop on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This course is open to all clinicians wanting an opportunity to learn more about the practice of CBT from experts in the field Timothy McCreary and Jason King. You will spend four hours in an immersive small group setting learning how to put CBT into practice. This course is ideal for any PA or NP desiring to spend more time learning the practice of CBT and how to utilize it in their practice. 

Instructor bios:
Dr. Timothy McCreary is informed by 19 years of practice serving underserved and vulnerable populations in under-resourced areas of the country. After 10 years in outpatient family medicine he decided to dedicate the balance of his career improving the mental health of his patients and making high quality mental healthcare more accessible by teaching and mentoring other PAs as they seek to become better mental healthcare providers and/or mental health experts. He is a full time clinician with the Indian Health Service (providing both primary care and psychiatric care) and is the Director of the Psychiatry Track at Rocky Mountain University of Health professions, Doctorate of Medical Science program. His professional journey has included opportunities to associate with and serve thousands of inspiring PAs and APRNS all across the country- he is the current president of the Association of PAs in Psychiatry, and past president of the PHSAPA and UAPA. He is a frequent speaker/educator at nationa

Dr. Jason King is the Psychotherapy Practicum Director for the Psychiatry Concentration Track in the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. He clinically directed a community mental health and substance abuse treatment clinic that collected data for the American Psychiatric Association’s Routine Clinical Practice field trials that informed the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) revision process. Because of this role, page 1000 of the DSM-5-TR recognizes him as a Collaborating Investigator. Dr. King served as a DSM-5 Revision Task Force committee member for AMHCA and ACA and has given over 225 national and international trainings on the DSM-5 since its publication in May 2013. He is a Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator by the National Board of Forensic Evaluators (NBFE) and is frequently retained by state licensing board investigators and personal injury attorneys to provide expert opinions for complex psychiatric-based legal matters.

This pre conference course is not yet approved for CME credit.  Conference organizers plan to apply for 4 AAPA Category 1 CME credits from the AAPA Review Panel.  Conference organizers also plan to apply for 4 CE hours from the AANP.
