Legislative Alert! (2/24/21)

Posted about 3 years ago in Legislation

The Utah Academy of Physician Assistants is working nonstop on behalf of our profession and the patients we serve, but WE NEED YOUR HELP

Utah S.B. 27 has passed the Utah Senate nearly unanimously and has moved on to the Utah House.

What does SB 27 do?

  • Removes the delegation of services agreement (DOSA) that requires PAs to maintain a specific relationship with a physician.
  • Allows PA scope of practice to be determined at the practice level.
  • Establishes PAs as solely responsible for the care they provide.
  • Allows PAs to provide care during health care emergencies or disasters without a collaborating physician.
  • Creates requirements for new graduates and those changing specialties.
  • Provides PA eligibility for direct billing.

Here's what we're asking from you:

1. Visit the Utah SB 27 Advocacy webpage

2. In the blue box, click on the phone call button.

3. Follow the simple prompt to send a call to your phone, connecting you with your representative in the Utah House.

4. Use the talking points that will appear on the screen and/or share your story and the reasons you support SB 27.

5. Ask for your Representative's support of S.B. 27.

It's that easy!

If you prefer, you can also click on the email button in the blue box to send your representative an email.

Please also encourage your physician and PA colleagues, clinic administrators, family/friends, and your patients to do likewise.

The PA profession has enjoyed an incredible 50 years in Utah.

With one last push, we can modernize our profession in Utah for the next 50 years!

Respectfully,

Jonathan Baird DMSc, PA-C, ATC

Immediate-Past President
