Get Involved with UAPA! We're Looking for President-Elect, Professional Affairs Chair, and Conference Chair

Let us know if you would be interested in serving as the president-elect, professional affairs chair, and conference committee chair. You can find more information about the positions below.
President-Elect:
You will work with the current president in preparation for serving as president in July 2024. Lead the organization and work with the board. Monthly executive committee meetings and quarterly board meetings. 
Professional Affairs:

Description:

UAPA’s Professional Affairs committee ensures that UAPA members are educated about new policies and changes to the practice environment. They work jointly with the education committee to support the transition to practice. They are also involved with planning town hall meetings with regional representatives.

Expectations and Goals 

The expectations are that committee members will be in communication with each other and be able to complete designated tasks within reason. The goals are to use our committee to align with UAPA’s vision to promote the action items and ultimately help PAs and their patients. 


Goals:

  • Use a variety of communication methods (email, social media, town hall meetings) to ensure Utah PAs are informed about changes to policy and practice environment.

  • Work with the education committee to ensure that new graduates have support for transition to practice.

  • Plan and lead town hall meetings on an annual basis

Conference Committee Chair:

The CME Planning Committee’s role is to create continuing medical educational experiences that are up-to-date, evidence-based and practice-changing. We create opportunities to network with other members of the healthcare team, including vendors/sponsors from pharmaceutical and medical industry. This committee aims to raise the standard of quality medicine practiced by Physician Assistants/Associates and connect them to the membership of the UAPA. 

 

Key responsibilities of organizing the annual CME conference of the UAPA:

  • Recruiting speakers
  • Recruiting vendors for exhibit hall
  • Recruiting sponsors
  • Attendee marketing through My PA Network and social media
  • Conference web page development and management
  • Including local PA Programs in live event and student poster session
  • Creating conference agenda
  • Incorporate activities and spaces for networking
  • Work with AAPA and AANP to get CME credits approved
  • Presence at live event and involvement in conference check in, speaker introduction, directing attendee questions and vendor check in
  • Work closely with hosting facility 
  • Collecting event and speaker survey data
  • Fullfill our fiduciary duties including
    • Secure and fulfill all contracts with contractors
    • Settle all debts in association with the conference
    • Fulfill all services and committments to attendees
    • Collect and appropriately route all revenue 
    • Report all organizing actions, and financial transactions to the UAPA board
